What I understand is LTTE was bitten by Ranil. LTTE had already planned to work against Ranil's manouveres internationally. Denying the most reliable nearly 650,000 votes was more damaging to Ranil than fighting him back in any form either at the table or internationally.
So they effected the most effortless blow to Ranil without any casualties on their side. Better than a military strategy.

Off the topic perhaps...
ltte taught a bitter lesson to the UNP yet again and whether it was learned fully still remains to be seen. No one really
trust the ltte nor it's bloody thirsty leaders, EU is the latest example. Hope UNP will come up with something different next time around. |
