I have a sneaking feeling Mahinda will die (metaphorically) at the hands of the JVP, a la Anura and CBK. It's already written in the stars.

I think that this situation is fuelled by a press that somehow portrays going to war as being strong and mediation or turning the other cheek as a sign of inherent weakness. Fighting for your country, irrespective of right and wrong, equals patriotism, pride and is good. Negotiation and accommodation is weak. Having been elected as the hard man of Southern politics, Mahinda really has very little room to manoevre in negotiations the LTTE, unless he wishes to appear as a failure to the people who have just voted for him.

WE do not need war at all.

But without military strength, it is no point of talking to LTTE.

From the looks of it Lanka is ready to sink to new lows under the new Commie leader. Bad bad choices as usual.

LTTE is fundraising in AUSTRALIA for the final EELAM WAR (NEruppu.com).

Within two years, there will be a war. We find that VP was killed or he has tasted his own cyanide capsule.

Dear OOPSE,

Mahinda is quite capable of being much touger and more ruthless than JR and Premadasa if required. Executive Power Going to Mahinda means a real tough time ahead for the UNP. If UNP tries sabotage the RAJAPAKSA program of work, UNP will deffinitely will get a taste of their own medicine of the late 80's. So UNP should watch it.

Mahinda's abilities todate has been proved only in CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND SADLY IN A PHYSICAL FORM.

Having attained a Leader's seat , we are waiting to see his capabilities for a Leader. You should also remember that UNP is UNP and it is not JVP.

If Mahinda decides to hold parliamentary elections today, UNP will win more seats than it commands right now. You may be aware that there are certain electorates that send 3 MPs at a time. All those electorates voted for Ranil.

AnuD,

Whether they have control over their cadres or not, certainly they have had control over GOSL and imminently the present President.

See, it is not unable see it. It is very visible.

SO many tamil politicians went and talked to LTTE and they told they would not interfere with elelctions. Ranil through TV explained his stand about LTTE.

Some how LTTE promised tamil politicians that they would not obstruct.

But it happened. HOW?

LTTE goons who do not listen to the leadership had their own rule. They just made a mess in Jaffna. It was mayhem.

How about, LTTE bombing the Mosque and then advertsing sympathy notes in the web site?.

NOw you should understand.

FAIRPLAY:

Because of that my prediction;

Last time LTTE had some success because of EASTERN tamils.

This time they lose big time.
