Kaduvan i'm sorry but Sri Lanka is not some kind of Gold mine for wealthy american presidents. Our whole island doesn't have as much money as the smallest state in America. California alone makes more money than the whole of Britain plus probably half of europe. Trust me bill Clinton does not need to go to Lanka to make dealings. Also Clinton never belonged to Yale's Skull and Bones. George Bush, his Dad and Grand dad did. So if you need anymore info about stuff ask me and i'll help you get all the facts straight.

I thought and wished Ranil should have won with out the support of N&E Tamils to make a ??????Decent solution.

However, to my disappointment he managed to convince only 35 to 40% of sinhala Buddhists vote. Rest is from Christian and partly by Muslims and but to a greater extent by Indian Tamils.

MR / JVP/ JHU did their calculations correctly and openly claimed that they dont need any minority support to become SL PRZ.

Because Ranil was spiting some anti Tamil slogans lately probably 75000 MR votes would have gone to Ranil and this made him 150000 better off.

So what SL Tamils have done is debatable.

You can vote for a PRZ who could not do anything. ( 60 - 65% will be against ) but will be PRZ narrowly win by ethnic minority votes.

OR

Let 60 - 65 elect who ever they want and deal with him.

Tamils opted for the latter and it seems to be good decision. Well done LTTE you are solid and made it happened. Next time this 60% will elect Weravansa and be happy.

By not supporting to Mr. Ranil LTTE proved that,

1) They are not accepting UNP answer - federal solution.

2) They are against UNP offer to MUSLIMS - separate part of East to Muslims

3) They are too against western puppets who destroy Sri Lankan Culture, economy and selling Sri Lankan girls to Middle East and trying to bring Nurses from India.

Who beat war drums? LTTE or Mr.Mahinda

As per some religions, people who die by the name of their religion will go to heaven.
Then, the people who betray their nation and religion where will go?

THESE LTTE TERRORISTS SHOULD BE CRUSHED, IF LTTE TERRORISTS ARE BANNED IN UK, WHY WE STILL PET THEM?

LTTE TERRORISTS SAY THAT THEY NEED WAR NO MATTER WHAT TO KEEP UP WITH THEIR TERRORISTS SINCE THEY ARE GETTING MARRIED AND DROPPING ARMS. SO THAT IS A GOOD SIGN. HOWEVER, WE NEED TO REGAIN CONTROL OVER THE NORTH, EAST AND WEST OF SRI LANKA SINCE, SRI LANKA IS A ONE COUNTRY AND SHOULD NOT LET IT BE DIVIDED TO TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

Mid off,
You are wrong saying that JVP and JHU expect MR to start the war. What they ask to address NE peoples needs instead LTTE needs.New Govt will Wait until LTTE come to negotiations in a unitary country while it try its best to eliminate NE peoples sufferings due to lack of development in basic facilities. It will invest in people (not in LTTE as Ranil try to do)

JHU is now UNP

In other words, JHU is now pro-LTTE.

Only the JVP is left.

That will be a power struggle between LTTE and JVP.

Sri Lankan politics and mentality of people are veery interesting.

Millions of Sri Lankans ans politicians are marching to the band of about 10,000 LTTEers most of whom are child soldiers and BIG MOUTH Expatriates.

Re-poll is called for when there is voter intimidation. This is outright prevention from voting. What is the guarantee that LTTE will not prevent voters again. You have to fight a ware and make conditions conducive for the voters to exercise their right freely. Is it possible?

The other side of the problem is that this action by LTTE can be at the instigation by interested parties with promises of greater concessions than hither to agreed upon. How and why was Gamini Dissanayake murdered by LTTE? It was suspected, and the suspicion still holds, that this murder is at the instigation of interested parties, with promises of greater concessions in the peace negotiations.

In any case it appears that LTTE does not want an UNP administration in Sri Lanka.

The international community is not happy about the LTTE interference in the elections. If the war starts and if the Sri Lankans start to win battles, then Prabakaran will know he made a huge mistake in backstabing. Mahinda is the president of only the Sinhala south but Ranil is the president of Sri Lanka. Even without the Tamils, Ranil has got 49% of the vote which means Ranil has won over a lot of Sinhalese. I think the UNP should ask the international community to put more pressure on the election commissioner to have a re poll.
