Anandasangaree will not do a good job like what Mr. kadiragamar did.
Devananda Will be a good candidate for a foreign minister that is for sure.
R. Sambanthan should be the finance minister. Edited By - AnuD - 20 Nov 2005 18:08:24 GMT |

Gasara,
Your chosen candidates for cabinet portfolios will only bring the government down in no time. Are you a politician by the way?
Wimal is not a person to run Irrigation when there are so many farmer-turned politicians in the parliament. I bet Wimal hasn?t seen a bigger lake than Beira-wewa.
He has no idea why the water needs to be stored and the problems associated with it.
Susil is only a lawyer, has no financial background. Mahinda?s chintana needs somebody who could deal with the farmer as well as the IMF. I guess, Amunugama is still the man.
I think women?s affairs ministry is a disgrace to the nation. It hasn?t done anything to the country?s women, who suffer day in day out. Women are better respected in other countries where there are no separate ministries for them.
DM Jayarathne is a man who did not support Mahinda and hasn?t done anything to his voters. Gampola has become a UNP bastian now, not because UNP leaders in the area are any credible but because of idle politicians like DMJ, who is the most inefficient.
Lalkantha needs to go to school before taking up a ministerial post like Power, which is crucial in a country?s development. I know I am a million times better than him and have a good idea about the energy sector.
Lalkantha once said, he was successful in three strike-actions since they came to power. What an idiot!! If you are in power, you don?t have to strike; there are other ways of achieving your demands, you are in POWER man. He once led striking non-academics in Sri Lankan universities that disrupted the exams of poor students. They won their demands. What he didn?t know was, he was playing with or demanding a ransom from the university-education budget. The university intake is only 5% of the A Level student population. As a government MP, he should support to increase the intake. Not to demand salary hikes for employees, from that tiny budget. Of curse they need salary hikes but demanding unfairly can?t be justified.
Mangala is a hard fighter but needs to be given a ministry where there are no international connections or credit card facilities.
I have no idea as to who is good but the above guys are a risk for a people-friendly president. |

JILLBALL DEAR FRIEND SHOULD INDULGE IN THE GAME THE NAME IMPLIES SINCE HIS KNOWLEDGE OF POLITICIAL BACKGROUND LEADING UP APPOINTMENT OF MINISTERS NEEDS MUCH UPGRADING. YOU CONTRADICT YOURSELF.
REMEMBER MAHINDA IS A LAWYER HIMSELF. CBK HAD NONE OF THE QUALIFICATIONS DESPITE HER CLAIMS THOUGH SHE HAD DEFENSE, EDUCATION, PETROLEUM PRODUCTIONS,MEDIA ETC. ETC. COMING UNDER HER BELT? WHAT PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION DID SHE HAVE THEN?
YOU MEAN IRRIGATION MINISTER SHOULD BE A FARMER? THEN HEALTH SHOULD BE GIVEN TO DOCTOR OF MEDICINE. BUT HAS THIS HAPPENED IN THE ANNALS OF CABINET APPOINTMENTS? WHAT IS WRONG WITH BERIA WEWA BY TH WAY. TRUE IT STINKS NOW AND THEN. BUT THAT IS LIFE.
AMUNUGAMA WOULD HANDLE LOCAL FILM INDUSTRY IF HE IS TO BE GIVEN A PORTFOLIO AT ALL. VICTOR HETTIGODA WOULD MAKE A BETTER FINANCE MINISTER IF WE AGREE ON YOUR LINES. WHAT HAS AMUNUGAMA DONE FOR THE MAHINDA CHINTHANAYA. THE BUDGET WAS CBK/AMUNUMAGAMA AFFAIR. NO BASIS FOR M.CHINTHANAYA.
PLEASE DO NOT RUNDOWN PEOPLE. LALKANTHA WILL DO A JOB OF WORK. YOU HAVE ENOUGH PROFESSIONALS IN THE POWER SECTOR TO GET TECHNICAL ADVICE. IT IS THE FORCEFUL MANAGEMENT THAT COUNTS TO GET THE BEST OUT OF PEOPLE.
YOU SEE JILLBALL YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RUN A MINISTRY TO GET A CREDIT CARD. IF MANGALA WANTS TO PLAY AROUND WITH INTERNET FRAUDULENTLY OR NOT FOR HIS AMOURS FEELING DO NOT FIND FAULT WITH HIM. THIS IS HUMAN NATURE. WHO DOES NOT INDULGE IN THESE PASS-TIMES. NAME ANY ONE WHO HAD OBSERVED THE PANCHA SEELA IN OUR PAST POLITICAL ARENA. LET THEM DO THE JOB OF WORK OF THEY ARE ENTRUSTED. DO NOT SEE UNDER THEIR VETTI OR THE CERTIFICATES THEY CARRY.
SRI LANKA NEEDS PEOPLE WHO WORK NOT PLAYING JILLBALL! |

Did the f GOSL prevent the killing spree going on?
I am not a LTTTr. I am a Sri Lankan who could visualize what is best for the country.

Gasara My friend, you need upgrading not me bro. Also, press your caps-lock again.
Mahinda is a lawyer, he has shown to be a leader and thrived with self belief and courage, he deserves anything. As former Prez Premadasa proved, qualifications do not matter but the will power and determination can make anybody a leader. CBK?s case was different but her legacy isn?t something anybody could be proud of. However, the leader has to pick the best of his followers to lead his ministries. Your selections do not justify anything, that was all what I said. There are better qualified people than those you named. I think you got facts mixed up.
When there are many farmer turned politicians in the cabinet, who possessed a grand knowledge in farming, agriculture, irrigation, farmer?s problems etc, why would a determined prez appoint a newspaper columnist, somebody who just speaks loud but hasn?t proved anything to deserve a post as Agriculture/Irrigation or to that end? Rather than learning from his advisors, it is good to have background knowledge for a minister; in Maithripala?s case, a hands-on experience.
Of course, a doctor will do a good job in Health but one with knowledge in patient-care will do it better. Now the finance minister has to be somebody who wants to help the poor as well as to deal with the World Bank carefully. Amunugama has been effective so far and his background justifies it. I know unfortunately, he has problems; he hasn?t been supportive to Mahinda. He won?t like presenting another budget anyway, to replace his previous one a couple of weeks ago, so will not get the post. People like Susil are yet to prove their skills. Since he hasn?t done anything yet to make himself popular or unpopular, he remains in the clean-sheet of politicians and some seem to like him. You need to do something to get reactions.
I do not condemn anybody unfairly, especially when they do not have a say here, but Lalkantha has been a pain to the country. A trade-union mad buffoon like Lalkantha wouldn?t survive a day at the Power ministry. There are very crucial decisions to make in the power sector in the country during the next few years. He will not go an inch ahead when the employees (in fact, he will lead the protests) or the local people are against new power stations or in restructuring state departments. That will only drag the country backwards. He was all against the previous regime while being a deputy minister. He acts like a king in his own land. What he needs to know is, he has to work together if he has to do anything in a cabinet.
Mangala can get a credit card from his pocket money and do anything he wants, but to use the public money to pay for his fantasies is a crime. Although he has been a star in the presidential campaign, he is a master crook. He got even a lift fitted for his mother from the public money when there are so many mothers crying for some food and help in uplifting lives.
Yes Sri Lankan cabinet needs not villains but people who could lead the country, who could deliver what the president promised in his manifesto. It is a hard job to pick them but easy to avoid, if they are known crooks. Edited By - Jillball - 21 Nov 2005 13:20:25 GMT |
