CMEV Criticizes LTTE

The Center for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) in its first statement today criticized the LTTE for actively engaging in `preventing and obstructing people from voting`.
The communiqué goes on to say that the LTTE `as a political actor has the right to call for a boycott of the election` and that in its statement it had pledged that it would not prevent or obstruct the exercise of the franchise by those who chose to vote. However, in its communiqué CMEV cites several incidents in the North and the East including grenade attacks on the EPDP office in Jaffna and polling stations in the East and state that reports received by them indicate to the contrary.
According to the CMEV communiqué the environment of intimidation, tension and violence that prevailed in the North and East is `directly attributable to the LTTE call for a boycott of the presidential election by the Tamil people which translated into negligible polling by the people in the areas directly under their control, negligible polling in the north and low polling amongst the Tamil community in the east`.
It adds that `the use of violence and intimidation in the context of the presidential election is the most recent measure of the LTTE`s commitment to a negotiated political settlement of the ethnic conflict and of its willingness and ability to participate in a democratic process` and that `this in turn compounds the challenge to all processes of democratic transformation throughout Sri Lanka`.
The Center for Monitoring Election Violence has been monitoring elections in Sri Lanka for the past 8 years.

It is crystal clear why these wanni butchers went into action again to kill & intimidate voters in the North & East of Sri Lanka.
With illegally earned money (drug trafficking, dubious business transactions in foreign countries, extortions from poor Tamils working in other countries....), the VBT murderers WERE waging a terror campaign in the country.
They knew that their activities were coming to an end with the massive votes cast for MR !
Avathaar & his terror group has no other solution, but to prevent peace loving Tamil population from voting.
After killing innocent voters, the ltte says on Tamil net, that 2 people were 'killed', without telling that they did this coward & shameful act.
Nobody was surprised that the tigers would never allow their own people to elect the new President: tigers love arms but not democracy!!

Mahinda should be thanking Prabakaran every single day.
Now we have a VISIONLESS, SPINELESS, Buffelo as President - THe LTTE would love this :) :)..
All you people HOOTING saying Mahinda Won... No dear friends it is NOT Mahinda who won. It is the LTTE that Made Mahinda the President and very very soon you will see why.

PS: Take it easy brother. You know, sometimes Sh*t happens. But what can we do. And don't become pessimistic, still it is too early to decide who is going to win. Having said all those, Ranil's lost in Moratuwa is going to be a big big problem, I guess.

Though Colombo has a mandartory except (Maharagagama and Moratuwa) for ranil, raja's lead is one lack.
May be people in Sri lanka better know what is going on. |

Its no point Criticizing LTTE , LTTE asked people to boycot since no leader is offering anyting to them.
its the people organised hartal. and roadblocks. the reson for hartal is to identify the army deserters in town to rig the votes. |
