Now Ranil says that he can find the peace in two years.
But what happened during his period?

Why was he waiting so long to reply to the Tamil propositions till the late foreign minister Mr.Kadir misinterprited the same as a first step for a separate nation for tamil?

I thought the tamil proposition was in english and it was little difficult for his party members to fully understand but it was n't like it. He did not move fast and reluctant to reply to Tamils through Norway immediately till the intervention of Mr.kadir and Mrs;CBK!

As usual, Mrs.CBK profited this occasion to seize his government under the fals facts saying that Mr.Ranil has already sold the Nation to Tamils.

Therefore, there is no use of listening all his elections facts to cheat the people.

It is now left entirely to the whole sinhalese political parties to decide themselves to come out with one voice
to have a round table conference with all people of this country.

The peace solution is not in the hands of Mr.Ranil,or Mr.Mahinda or Mrs.CBK but it is in the hands of all political parties in the south but united only with one voice.

It was so bad of Ranil to say that.He could have said 2days.Just like the liers in the UPFA government saying that they would tear the CFA as soon as they come to power. Its been more than one and a half years. Thanks to the CFA they are still alive to keep on lying.

I think that Ranil should be given a chance. If he fails like his predecessors, he would be the last Sinhala leader in Tamil's history (war of independence)

Ranil also has to follow the same path. He cant do any magic to bring the peace. If the LTTE will not come for the PEACE what he can do. If Ranil become as a president sure LTTE will demand him to destroy the Karuna's group and only after that LTTE will become to the peace table. I'm Sure this fool will do it.

What is Ranil going to do about Christian fundmentalism in Sri Lanka, and the evangelists? I sure hope he is not going to pander to their hate campaign against non-Christians as well as to the crazy Catholic priests who say one thing and then do another. One can only hope.

'Personally I do not understand why some Christians believe that their religion is superior to those of others and try to convert followers of other religions to the Christian faith. I was born a Hindu and consider all religions to be equal leading to the same goal. I think it is wrong to go around trying to coerce people to believe in any religion, and worse to exploit the poverty and helplessness of people to gain them as converts.

It is sad to see Christian fundamentalism coming to Sri Lanka. None of us in this island needs to be 'saved' because we all have beautiful religions that are spiritual and serve our needs. These new Christian groups are not doing Sri Lanka any favours by ruining the religious harmony of the country.

If a religion has to resort to providing material inducements in order to gain converts, then what does that say about the spiritual power of that religion?'

If there is any contemporary Sri Lankan leader who can usher an era of peace to Sri lanka it will be only Ranil. He has proven his ability as a PM already. If not for his determination to sign the CFA, there would have been thousands of lives would have been lost since 2001. Mahinda and his ' Kata Perata' allies are criticizing the CFA, but they don't have the guts to cancel it. What has Mahinda done as PM other than the 'Helping himself with Helping Hampantota Fund'? The taste of the pudding is in the eating. Colombo people have not forgotten what was Galle Road in front of 'Araliya Mandriya' before Ranil. We could not go through 'Bullers Road' before Ranil. If not for his Economic policies, we will be still having negative growth.
Mahinda is only signing yes agreement with everybody, believing that he can do what he wants if, 'a big if' he wins the election. i am sure, if Prabaharan wanted an agreement signed to support him for 'Tamil Eeelam' he would have signed that too. Even after seeing what mahinda & his JVP allies have done for two years, only fools will vote for Mahinda.
Ranil never give promises he cant deliver. Wait till Nov 17th.

I can only hope Ranil is not in the pockets of the Christian fundmentalists. Already that Oswald Gomis guy has been looking at Ranil with greedy eyes.

Who is this CAPSLOCK fellow?Where did he come from?Looks like a JHU castaway.Let me tell you my friend,No body can convert No body to any Religion by Force.A Religion is not something you could see or hear.True Religion Lives very deep inside you so nobody else will be able to reach it.Those who convert to other religions actually are not religious. They are the ones who look for worldly pleasure in a Religion.Unfortunately you fall into that category too.

Who is this Weliya fellow? Looks like yet another Christian evangelist out to convert all the poor evil, digusting little pagans. Instead of pointing your sticky fingers at other religious groups look at your religious community which is seething with corruption, hatred and animosity towards non-Christians.

Read and think about abusing the poverty of people to buy souls for your god. If Jesus had been buried he would be turning in his grave at the activities of his so-called followers in Sri Lanka.

'I wonder whether our Christian brothers and sisters would like it if Buddhist or Hindu preachers enter an overwhelmingly Christian village and start enticing the poor villagers to adopt either Buddhism or Hinduism by providing clothes, money, medicine, and declare that everyone will be delivered from poverty and sickness if they accept the Buddha or Brahma as their only saviour.

I wonder if our Christian brothers and sisters would like it if Buddhist or Hindu preachers encourage Christian converts to Buddhism or Hinduism to take up a statue of Jesus Christ or the Mother Mary and smash it on the ground, in order to declare their faith in Buddhism or Hinduism. I wonder whether our Christian brothers and sisters would like it if when the Buddhists and Hindus are challenged with the inhumanity of such activities, the Buddhists and Hindus reply 'Our religion orders us to propagate our religion, we are only practicing our religion.'

Does not such an attitude smack of religious extremism and intolerance? Is it not correct to say that only a person with no scruples would engage in and encourage such activities?

But it is happening in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, many Christian evangelists are engaged in such activites among the poor and destitue Buddhists and Hindus of Sri Lanka. Their activities only serve to rile up religious tension and cause the disintegration of the community.

Does not the buying of converts cheapen Jesus Christ? Does not the smashing of Buddha statues go against Christ's teachings of love and compassion? Does not buying souls for God make a mockery of him? Why are these Christian evangelists so blind to their intolerance of other religions?

Is it really so necessary for the whole world to become Christian? These are some of the questions that Christian evangelists should ask themselves. Fundamentalism only engenders problems wherever it goes, and one can only hope that Christian evangelism (or fundamentalism) in Sri Lanka will not cause any religious problems in our country.'

Sorry Capslock,After joining the forum just four days ago (or less)if you are questioning who I am in which I have been in for more than eight months is a real joke.
But from your writings I gather that you are really a JHU castaway+a Lunatic.Being a Catholic myself Show me just one fellow who asked you or anybody to smash a Buddha statue or any other Religious Object and I will be the first one to smack his face. The way you wrote the comments on the preceding column you pretend to be a good Buddhist. But a good Buddhist would never insult another religion. There are people like you in every religion. But those people never follow the teachings of that religion.
