Karuna appeals EU to proscribe LTTE

Karuna aka V. Muralitharan, the breakaway LTTE eastern commander has appealed to British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who heads the European Union, to take strong and firm action to proscribe the LTTE in the European Union member countries.
In an interview with the Asian Tribune, Karuna said `We fully endorse the travel ban imposed by the European Union against the Vanni Tigers - a decision which was long overdue by the international community. They should have taken it when the Denmark Government clamored for the ban after the visit of V. Balakumar to Denmark and spoke about the suicide squads in the country and propagated threats and terror in the midst of peace loving people of Denmark.`
He had also said that the EU has to come up with a list of designated terrorists as adopted by United States of America and United Kingdom, which includes LTTE. `It is very disappointing and agonizing to note that EU initially failed to include the LTTE in the list of terrorist organizations under Norwegian pressure. I trust that EU will not succumb to further pressures from Norway in the future,` he said.
Karuna also urged the UN International Criminal Court to declare Prabhakaran as an international terrorist and a criminal responsible for the killings of thousands of unarmed human beings. `It is time that Prabhakaran was indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity. I trust that India would initiate action against Prabhakaran with the ICC, as he is also a proclaimed offender wanted by the Indian courts for the brutal killing of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi,` he said

Dear Editor Asia Tribune, you are really going over board, making a fool of yourself. It is simply prostituting journalism. Karuna is the fellow who killed hundreds of surrendered policemen against the order of the LTTE head during Premadasa's time. If you are going to promote him and even interview him your so-called publication is proving itself to be a trash and in fact you are fast losing credibility. Karuna may be an illiterate fellow but a good military strategist and he too has traveled to the west under the LTTE patronage. For him to come out with such an interview and many other statements made in the past there is obviously something sinister. It reminds me of Rohana in 1988 when he appealed over Rupavahini to his comrades to lay down arms! By then the poor bloke was already dead, shot by police while 'trying to escape from custody'!Is Karuna really alive???? He made a blunder and walked into the trap and now is he really making such statements or his ghost is making such statements? Asia Tribune, without any journalistic ethics, can come out with any kind of stories, it is well known to all. But Asia Tribune to say that Karuna is appealing to Tony Blair and the EU is too far fetched. It is an insult to poor Blair and the EU. Worst still requesting the UN international court to deal with the LTTE leader. Karuna, if still alive, is a prisoner of his own making like Kadir, Douglas and Sangari. For the SL government it will be more productive trusting the LTTE rather than these jokers, if they are really making such statements on their free will. Dear Editor, why don't you promote Karuna to be the next FM under Rajapakse? God save SL.

Akash, you are in the clouts. First and foremost make sure your 'democrat Karuna' is still alive. You know the Tin Tin series comes to my mind. There is one guy, I can't remember his name, something like a Greek name,he is a villain and he keeps on trying various gimmicks to sabotage things but always fails at the end. He is like the SL government and its military, they have been trying various gimmicks along with their kept media and paid Tamil goons to sabotage Tamil struggle but at the end to square one. These saboteurs keep on appearing from no where and take every one for a good ride. This has become a way of life for the folks in Paradise and they survive on that.No progress, keep on stagnating and rotting. They are trying to create more and more patriots, now Karuna after Kadir. Karuna may be the next FM, well done SL.

Karuna's true colours are now being revealed. It matters not at the national level, whether it is Karuna himself or someone using his name and vote.
When I met Karuna in his quarters in 2003, he asked me to pass on my proposal for improving their 'Visa' system, to Prabaharan. This indicated to me that Karuna himself was not deeply into administration. This indicates that he would not have successfully brought his findings to the people remote from him, but would have benefited only those physically close to him. Karuna also failed to show interest in the Adminsitrative system for Health Administration that I presented in 2003. I had to therefore take the value of my findings in different ways to the people concerned.
Anyone who takes note of his opinions or uses his name to damage the good work done by Tigers and all those who see Sri Lanka through them would be limiting themselves to those levels that Karuna has limited himself to.
Karuna is writing to the British PM. What has he done to reconstruct the Thiruchendur Murugan Temple in Batticaloa - the temple that shared its publicity with the British when Prince Charles visited the Tsunami damaged temple. Karuna could not see that opportunity for his people because he has been busy finding fault with his competitors for the limited goodwill available to them.

Hi Malship, thank you. I was away in Sudan and Egypt on some academic activities and completely forgot about Lanka News and more importantly about mother Lanka and its subjects. What a relief when you put these things out of your head, especially the politics, lies, bias, hatred and bitterness. Life becomes more meaningful. Sudan is another country we should learn from, petrolium alone brings in more than 40 billion dollars, but there is utmost poverty and chaos. war in south Sudan and west Dafur taking most of these wealth with never ending human tragedy. The media there carries claims and counter claims of atrocities. But interestingly, the press also gives wide publicity to the atrocities committed by the army in Darfur and that is a visible diviation from mother Lanka, where the media is for the majority only and its main objective is to destroy and demonise the legitimate struggle of the oppressed people. Egypt, especially Cairo, has gone a long away and Islam is not an obstruction to progress owing to excellent and forward looking leadership. Mubarak does not promise money from abroad or sepctacles for the blind or any other stupid and idiotic promises, and he does not wear red shawl around his neck while whacking whiskey at night at state expenses. Don't know when we will learn and when we will get out of this mess. Incidentally I read somewhere that an Australian was arrested in Colombo for the murder of the patriot and I was worried about you??? If so how did you manage to escape at the Katunayake airport with anonymous calls of bombs and guys raming into the aircrafts?

Dear AkashAgni,
Sri Lanka is the home of Tamil Tigers to the extent THEY feel so and it is not for you to tell them whether they belong or not. They just see Sri Lanka through Tamil eyes, the same way some Sinhalese see it through Sinhalese eyes. Now foreigners are also investing in Sri Lanka, to that extent Sri Lanka is their home too, just as Australia is my home now.
Ownership is realised. It's not given and recieved.
