Eksath Lanka Podujana Party Presidential Candidate Victor Hettigoda - popularly known as Siddhalepa WedaMahaththaya ' will travel to Kilinochchi within the next two weeks as part of his campaign for the upcoming elections. He will be the first presidential candidate to personally campaign in Tiger controlled areas.
'I received a good reception when I visited the area last year and hope for a similar reception this year too, 'Mr. Hettigoda told the Daily Mirror.
Commenting on a recent statement made by LTTE Political Wing Leader S.P. Thamilselvan that the LTTE would allow anybody to campaign in the areas under Tiger control, Mr. Hettigoda said it came as a result of a request made by him to the LTTE.
In a bid to bring the Tigers into mainstream politics, Mr. Hettigoda reiterated his pledge to give cabinet portfolios to LTTE leaders if he was elected to office.
He lashed out at the two main candidates Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mahinda Rajapakse claiming they were trying to get elected as President by by giving false promises. He also charged that Colombo based businessmen were funding the campaigns of the main candidates and thereby falling into their traps
' I am poor but I will win the election and become the president of this country on November 17th ' Mr. Hettigoda said in a confident tone.

Dreaming of being the vice President in Hettigoda's cabinet.
The wife comes with a vial of the best that Sidhalepha can make & rubs it on his forehead with all the love she has for the great man.
A fantastic TV commercial, a definite winner in the ratings.

Malship,
I agree. A picture of Victor having a laugh over a pot of toddy with Prabha under a coconut tree in the Vanni may be the clincher for Victor's victory.
But would the Yak Jo clan in the South appreciate the significance of such an event and vote for Victor? |
