St.Peter`s powered by a brilliant try from dynamic number eight and skipper Sajith Adikari, in the fourth minute of extra time from a close range scrum and the ensuing fourth phase move, registered a hard fought 18-13 win over St.Anthony`s Katugastota after scores were tied at 13-all at full time, in a rousing second semi final of the Milo President`s Trophy knock-out Schools rugby match at Longden Place on Saturday.
The winners scored from three tries and a penalty goal, while the losers who lost their first match of the season, replied with two tries and a penalty goal in a thrilling encounter where both teams were deadlocked at 13-all from the 34th minute onwards.
St.Anthony`s, hardly impressed in the game, and seemed to have given their all especially after a taxing extra time 13-8 quarter final win over S.Thomas` at Sugathadasa Stadium last Monday.
St. Peter`s, had a chance to pull the game in their favour when presented with a 25 metre penalty goal three minutes from full time, but pivot I Meedin fluffed it, leaving it to skipper Adikari to deliver the goods in extra time.
The Petes drew first blood in the third minute when fly half Meedin arrowed a 22 metre penalty to give a 3-0 lead, before six minutes later lock Haren Ariyawardene scored a pushover try from a rolling maul which originated in the St. Anthony`s `22`.
The try shot St. Peter`s to an 8-0 lead, before SACK scored their first try in the 19th minute through flanker Mohammed Munthazeer who joined a fifth phase backline move.
The try enabled the Antonians, to reduce the scores to 5-8 before Petes again drew clear with a prop Desmond Wilson try in the 29th minute.
That five-pointer, took the Peterites to a 13-5 lead, before St.Anthony`s captain and outside-half Shaheer Reyal further cut into the opposition lead with an injury time penalty goal.
With scores at 13-8 in favour of St. Peter`s, both teams changed ends and in the second half a tight defence prevented the two sides from piling on the points.
However in the 34th minute St.Anthony`s flanker Sanjaya Rajaguru scored an opportunistic try slicing through a bemused Petes defence, but that only spurred both teams to heighten the tempo.
Ref Aruna booed
The St.Anthony`s supporters in the CR grand stand in their inability to accept defeat vent their anger at referee Aruna Jayasekere by jeering and shouting expletives when he was returning to the pavilion, which is not the done thing.
A St. Anthonty`s supporter who was about to set-upon Jauasekera was arrested by the ground Police and it was Referee`s Society members Dilroy Fernando, D Nimal and Roshan Deen who had to provide security and escort him to safety.

| Congrats to Peterites !! Hope they do well against the mighty kingswood, anyone remember Presidents Trophy knock-out in 2000 when Thomians-the league champions who had beaten all the other schools by double figures were shockingly beaten by a average kingswood side in the Final. Its Peterites this time and lets not forget that St.Peters who were the only side that was able drew with the unbeaten Kingswoodians in the earlier league match |

Rugby lover: It should really be pig in the mud.
Learn your English first, before you call others names.
Anyway, another surrender to Mal ship.
You can dazzle the people with your rubbish for a short time then you got to perform.
You have fallen apart at the seams.

President trophy must play in sugadasa stadium because of the security reason and Kandy schools feel better also easy to avoid ugly incident like 1st semi final match kingswood vs Wesley.
Any how all the best for Kingswood
Herewith wishing for St Anthony's and St Peter's for completing successful Rugby Season
All the best next year |

I'm not 100% sure about this hilmy. As far as I know organizing committee decided to play finals in Kandy.
In that case Bogambara Grounds safer than Nittawela.
All the best for Kingswood !
Thanks in Advance |
