Dinesh Comes Home

It was an emotional homecoming for Dinesh Dharmendra Rajaratnam yesterday when he arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport to a tearful but happy reunion with his family after his seven-week ordeal of being held hostage in Iraq by a group of armed militants.

The 37-year-old truck driver taken hostage by an Iraqi militant group on October 19 was released along with his Bangladeshi colleague on Friday after numerous efforts by the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry and the Lankan Embassy in Lebanon.
