Can someone tell me what our players apply on their faces? Are they worried about sunburn? Perhaps it would be helpful to apply black stripes under your eyes to prevent light from reflecting. It helps see the ball. Applying white something should make it even worse. We have extra pigment in our skin to protect us from sunlight. I see the brits and aussies with sunscreen on their noses sometime. But, never seen anyone with the whole facial mask like Vaas. Perhaps there is something I dont know.
Perhaps he uses this stuff to grease the ball. Edited By - Dewey - 13 Oct 2006 23:34:01 GMT |

Dewey,
We always apply sunscreen before a game. If you stay out for a few hours, it starts to burn your face. It's not just for short term, but long term effects. So even in USA, when we play, we always apply sunscreen before a game.
Making black strips is not common in Cricket. Actually, it's a concern of the batsmen rather than fielders. It's more important for batsmen to see the ball clearly, than the fielders.
To who ever submitted this picture (from Yahoo news):
Picking up the right thing is very important, there were a lot of better pictures, perhaps you are a fan of Vassy.... |

I thought he is the 'hand of god' Dieago Maradona of Argentina, who scored a goal with his hand against England in a world cup match, which the refree failed spot and England lost the match. When his foul play was pointed out to him later,he said,'it was the hand of god'.

Piyal:
I play cricket too. Sometimes I apply sunscreen on my face and hands. But, not like a white mask. You apply a think layer, good SPF. You do the same when you go to a beach. I am a bit fairer than vaas, perhaps atapattu's complexion. I have never seen atapattu wearing white mask. Our skins can resist the sunlight to some extent. I don't think we need a mask. |
